Discovery Center (Williamsburg)
In its continuing efforts to provide just-in-time workforce education, customized training and related services to area businesses and residents, Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development has established training facilities at the Discovery Center in Williamsburg. The Discovery Center for Economic and Workforce Development is located in Williamsburg’s New Town area, a 365-acre mixed-use community.
This collaborative effort between Thomas Nelson Community College, the College of William and Mary, and James City County provides first-class training and coordinated economic and workforce development services to public and private organizations. The Discovery Center for Economic and Workforce Development serves as an engine for starting, growing and attracting technology-related businesses essential to the success of Greater Williamsburg.
Business Training and Services
TNCC experts offer training programs for the business community, including current company employees entrepreneurs and transitional/dislocated workers needing to advance workplace skills. Scheduled seminars and workshops are also offered at this location.
Facility Description
The Center’s space on the ground floor of the Discovery II building is approximately 2,000 square feet and includes two Smart/Wireless classrooms and a Business Development and Corporate Training office for the Upper Peninsula. Cost for Facilities Usage (pdf)
Leadership
Michelle Manfred, Director of Business Development and Corporate Training, works closely with other Discovery II occupants in business recruitment and expansion projects. Discovery II occupants include James City County’s Office of Economic and Community Development and the College of William and Mary.
