  • Dr. Koop's Community - Dr. Koop's efforts to promote better health behaviors and preventive care. Now includes excellent information in streaming video format. 
  • Government Performance Project 2004 - Health Care - From Governing Magazine, this report, titled "A Case of Neglect: Why Health Care Is Getting Worse, Even Though Medicine Is Getting Better," examines problems with public health, long-term care, mental health, children's care, insurance coverage, and prescription drugs. Also has summaries for individual states.
  • Health Law Blog - Frequently updated "more or less continuous commentary on pretty much anything -- if not quite everything -- that is happening in the health law field" courtesy of Thomas Mayo, Associate Professor at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law.
  • Health Poll Search - From the Kaiser Family Foundation and The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, this searchable archive of over 65 years of findings about public opinion on health issues helps you discover how Americans' views of health issues have changed over time.

  • MedlinePlus - A goldmine of good health information from the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine.
  • MedWatch: the FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program - "Internet gateway for timely safety information on the drugs and other medical products regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration."  Searchable by date, recalls, medication errors, dietary supplements, and medical devices. Also gives access to FDA databases, and allows online reporting of adverse events.

  • MerckSource - The respected publisher of medical information offers online access to several of its books, news, interactive tools, a Medline search, and a collection of questions to ask your doctor.
  • National Safety Council - Includes fact sheets on many safety, health, and environmental topics.

  • State Health Facts - From the Kaiser Family Foundation. Find individual state profiles, or compare states on a number of measures: Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, women's health, minority health, managed care, the uninsured, etc.
  • U.S. Food & Drug Administration - Hot Topics page. Information on drugs, foods, medical devices, radiological products, biological products and current concerns such as West Nile Virus
