Thomas Nelson Community College is pleased to welcome Edgar “Eddie” Swain to Workforce Development as the Director of Professional, Credential and Continuing Education. His experience includes 25 years in credit and non-credit program development and training implementation, development of innovative programs and a commitment of working with underserved populations.
Swain served as dean of Workforce Development Services for 10 years at Eastern Shore Community College, where he partnered with Thomas Nelson on multiple initiatives to train and employ the workforce. In addition, Swain has led successful continuing education programs in community and technical colleges in West Virginia, and Maryland, and has additional higher education experience in Georgia and Florida. He holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
At Thomas Nelson, his focus will be the full implementation of the Workforce Credentials Grant Program, from enrollment to credential attainment, extending programs into the Williamsburg area, and developing workforce boot camps in allied health, cybersecurity, and other areas to build bridges to credit programs. Swain will serve the Virginia Peninsula from offices at the Thomas Nelson Workforce Center at Williamsburg and in Continuing Education in Hampton.
