Former President of Thomas Nelson Community College, Dr. Shirley Pippins, announced the formation of the President's Cultural Scholarship in the fall semester of 2000. Because of her love of the arts, she wanted to encourage as many students as possible to share in the experience. She established a one hundred-dollar scholarship for anyone willing to attend five cultural events during a semester. Dr. Charles Taylor, Thomas Nelson's current president, has endorsed and supports the scholarship. The scholarship is awarded at the conclusion of the semester and deducted from the next semester's tuition.
