There are three primary locations on campus where academic advising takes place: the Admissions and Welcome Center (on the Hampton Campus, Griffin Hall, room 201), the Office of Student Development (Hastings Hall, room 323) and Advising Area (Hastings Hall, room 324).
Disabled Student Services
Thomas Nelson is committed to creating an accessible environment for students with disabilities, while allowing the student the opportunity for growth, greater responsibility and empowerment.
College Success Skills (SDV 100)
College Success Skills is an orientation program that serves as an introduction to Thomas Nelson Community College. The course is offered each semester and is a requirement for graduation in academic programs. College Success Skills is taught by professional counselors as a one-credit course. The course provides students an overview of college degree offerings, program services and various strategies on student success. Several topics addressed by the course are study skills, time management, test taking skills, college policies and procedures, personal goal setting, educational and career planning.
Counseling Services
Counselors in the Office of Student Development assist students in developing skills to make informed decisions regarding their educational, career, personal and social issues. New and non-curricular students should see Counselors in the Admissions and Welcome Center on the Hampton campus (Griffin Hall, room 201) while continuing students may see Counselors in the Office of Student Development (Hastings Hall, room 323) or call 757-825-2827, or email us at CounselorHelp@tncc.edu.
