WHO SHOULD COME?

The first VADE conference of the millennium promises to be a positive learning experience for all faculty, researchers, program administrators, student support personnel, and other professional educators interested in the success of the developmental students.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Presenters and workshop leaders will be offering new and useful information in the following areas: Oral Speaking as a Channel for Learning, The English as a Second Language Writer, Distance Learning and Developmental English and Mathematics Students, Learning Strategies for All Students Including Students With Disabilities, Learning Across the Disciplines and Communication Technologies, Faculty and Students as Collaborators, Student Development and Learning, and MORE!

10:30 – 1:00 Pre-Conference Workshop (transportation to and from the workshop site will be provided )

1:00 – 2:00 Registration

2: 00 – 4:30 Concurrent Sessions

6:30 – 8:30 Welcome, Banquet, and Evening Program

Friday, February 11, 2000

8:30 – 9:30 Breakfast and Business Meeting

9:45 – 12:00 Concurrent Sessions

A variety of individual and family activities are available in the local area. More information will be provided upon registration.

WHAT IS NEW?

A pre-conference workshop will be offered at the Virginia Beach Campus of Tidewater Community College in the Learning Resources Center. Transportation will be provided to and from the workshop from the hotel.

Communication Technologies for Learning: English and Math

Dr. Raymond Morgan, Professor of Education at Old Dominion University

Ms. Carmen Nieves-Cardenas, Instructor for Reading at TCC

Dr. Maureen Cahill, Instructor for Reading at TCC

Participants, through experiences with a variety of software and teaching methods, will be able to incorporate communication technologies to enhance the learning experience in classroom instruction, for out of class assignments, and in distributed learning environments.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

Registration Fee: $50 for VADE members

Membership Fee: $10 year (payable with registration)

Hotel Accommodations: $61 per night rate available February 9 – 12.
