College Renaming | Thomas Nelson Community College

College Renaming

During its meeting in May 2021, Virginia’s State Board for Community Colleges approved the request of the Thomas Nelson Community College Local Board to rename the College. State Board Enacts New Naming Policy, Accepts Local Recommendations to Change Three College Names.  For information about the College’s process in recommending an institutional name change, see College building naming initiative archive.

The College worked with a recognized branding firm, Brand Federation, to assist in the development of a short list of potential new names for the College.

The College Board will vote during their August meeting on the 18th to submit the recommended name(s) to the State Board for approval at their September meeting.

Questions regarding the process should be directed to Cynthia Callaway, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, at callawayc@tncc.edu or 757-825-3547.
